Educational Qualification
CPCL01 – Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Production)
- 3 years Diploma in Chemical / Petroleum / Petrochemical Engineering / Technology from a recognized Institute / University with minimum 60% marks for General / OBC / EWS candidates.
- Minimum 55% marks for SC candidates against reserved positions.
- Alternatively, B.Sc. with Chemistry as a major subject is prescribed for this post.
CPCL02 – Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Mechanical)
- 3 years Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institute / University.
- Minimum 60% marks for General / OBC / EWS candidates.
- Minimum 55% marks for SC / PwBD candidates against reserved positions.
CPCL03 – Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Electrical)
- 3 years Diploma in Electrical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized Institute / University.
- Minimum 60% marks for General / OBC / EWS candidates.
- Minimum 55% marks for SC / PwBD candidates against reserved positions.
CPCL04 – Junior Engineering Assistant-IV (Instrumentation)
- 3 years Diploma in Instrumentation / Instrumentation & Electronics / Instrumentation & Control / Electronics & Communication Engineering from a recognized Institute / University.
- Minimum 60% marks for General / OBC / EWS candidates.
- Minimum 55% marks for SC candidates against reserved positions.
Diploma obtained through a recognized lateral-entry scheme, including candidates admitted to the second year of Diploma after Class XII (Science) / ITI, will also be considered eligible subject to fulfilling the prescribed percentage requirement based on the aggregate of four Diploma semesters.
Important Experience Requirement
Relevant post-qualification work experience of minimum 3 years is mandatory for all four posts.
CPCL01 – Production: Minimum 3 years relevant post-qualification experience in Continuous Process Units of Refining / Chemical / Petrochemical / Fertilizer / Gas Processing Industry, involving equipment/processes such as Fired Heaters, Exchangers, Pumps, Compressors, Distillation Columns, Reactors, High-Pressure Vessels, Effluent Treatment Plant, Cooling Towers, Tank Farm, Pressurized Storage Bullets, Pump House, etc.
CPCL02 – Mechanical: Minimum 3 years relevant post-qualification experience in maintenance of rotary equipment such as Process Pumps, Compressors and Turbines and stationary equipment such as Boilers, Heat Exchangers, Column Vessels, Piping, Valves and Tanks in Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical / Fertilizer / Power Plant / large industrial establishments.
CPCL03 – Electrical: Minimum 3 years relevant post-qualification experience in maintenance of electrical equipment such as Motors, Transformers, Generators, HT (3.3 kV and above) and LT (415 V) switchgear, control & protection, UPS, Battery Banks, Battery Chargers and Variable Frequency Drives. Candidates should also be capable of reading, understanding and troubleshooting the relevant control circuits. Experience should be in continuous process industries such as Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical / Fertilizer / Power Plants / large industrial establishments.
CPCL04 – Instrumentation: Minimum 3 years relevant post-qualification experience in maintenance of process control instrumentation in Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical / Fertilizer sector or large process industrial establishments. Candidates should have knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance, troubleshooting and rectification of field instruments such as transmitters and control valves, familiarity with DCS / PLCs, ability to read P&ID and logic control diagrams and ability to generate calibration reports.
Important: Apprenticeship Training under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 shall be considered as work experience as specified in the advertisement.
Higher Qualification Rule
Candidates possessing higher professional qualifications such as B.E. / B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA or equivalent higher professional qualifications are not eligible. Possession of such higher qualification at the time of joining may lead to cancellation of appointment.
Age Limit
The upper age limit for all positions is 30 years as on 01 July 2026.

Reservation & Category Certificate
SC/ST/OBC (NCL) and EWS candidates must possess the prescribed certificates from the competent authority. OBC (NCL) certificate must be issued on or after 01 April 2026. EWS Income & Asset Certificate must also be issued on or after 01 April 2026.
OBC candidates belonging to the creamy layer are not eligible for OBC reservation and may apply against UR posts if they satisfy the applicable General category age and eligibility conditions.
PwBD Eligibility
PwBD reservation is available on a horizontal basis only against identified posts. The notification specifies identified disabilities and functional requirements for CPCL02 Mechanical and CPCL03 Electrical, including Hearing Impairment (Hard of Hearing), certain locomotor disabilities and specified multiple disabilities.
PwBD candidates must have a valid disability certificate issued by the competent authority as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017, and the relevant disability must be at least 40% wherever applicable.
Opportunity for Women Candidates
Due to hazardous refinery operations and statutory safety considerations, women candidates are presently not being considered for Production vacancies and work areas requiring shift operations throughout the year or work beyond 7:00 PM up to 6:00 AM.

Selection Process
The selection methodology consists of:
- Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Document Verification
- Skill, Proficiency and/or Physical Test (SPPT)
- Medical Fitness
The SPPT will be of qualifying nature.

General Aptitude includes Verbal Ability, General Knowledge, Reasoning / Logical Deduction and Numerical Ability.
Discipline Knowledge consists of objective-type questions related to the relevant discipline.
Exam Duration: 2 Hours
Negative Marking: 1/4 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
Candidates must secure at least 40% marks in CBT to be considered for shortlisting. SC/ST/PwBD candidates are eligible for a 5% relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks against reserved positions.
Candidates will generally be shortlisted for SPPT in the ratio of 1:3, i.e. three candidates for one post, subject to the notified conditions and category-wise reservation.
CBT Exam Date & Centre
The CBT is tentatively scheduled for September / October 2026 and will be conducted at Chennai only. The exact date will be communicated separately through registered email and published on the CPCL Careers page.
Salary / Pay Scale
Selected candidates will be appointed in the Non-Supervisory Cadre (Grade IV) in the IDA pay scale of:
₹25,000 – ₹1,05,000/-
The starting basic pay will be ₹25,000/- per month.
In addition to Basic Pay, selected candidates will be entitled to benefits such as DA, HRA / Self-Lease, PF, Gratuity, LTC / LFA, reimbursement of medical expenses and superannuation benefits as per CPCL rules.
Note: No pay protection will be admissible under any circumstances.

Important Instructions for Experience
For CPCL01, CPCL02, CPCL03 and CPCL04, work experience is mandatory. Candidates working directly or through an agency/contractor in a Large Industrial Establishment may also be eligible subject to the documentary requirements specified in the advertisement.
The notification defines a Large Industrial Establishment as an industrial/manufacturing unit whose investment in plant and machinery exceeds ₹10 crore and which has been in operation. Relevant balance-sheet/work-order documents may be required during certificate verification.
Government / PSU Employees
Candidates employed in Government Organizations, Public Sector Undertakings or Government-owned Autonomous Bodies should forward their applications through proper channel. Alternatively, they must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of Document Verification if the application was not routed through proper channel.
Ex-Servicemen
Ex-Servicemen reservation will be applied horizontally across categories as per Government guidelines. Candidates whose service is completed / likely to be completed on or before 31 December 2026 may be eligible subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification. Required release/equivalence documents must be produced wherever applicable.
Travel Reimbursement for SC/ST Candidates
SC/ST candidates called for CBT / SPPT / Document Verification may be eligible for reimbursement of single Second Class Railway / Bus fare from the nearest railway station of the mailing address to the examination / verification location and back by the shortest route, subject to the conditions specified by CPCL. The minimum distance condition is 30 km and original tickets / prescribed documents are required.
Medical Examination
Final selection is subject to the candidate being found medically fit as per CPCL’s prescribed Pre-Employment Medical Standards. Candidates are advised to read the applicable medical examination guidelines before applying.
