East Coast Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Overview

East Coast Railway (ECoR), Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Bhubaneswar has released the notification for engagement of Act Apprentices for the training year 2026-27. A total of 1599 Act Apprentice slots are available in various trades across different Divisions and Workshops of East Coast Railway.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official RRC Bhubaneswar website. The online application process will start on 26 August 2026 at 05:00 PM and the last date to apply is 15 September 2026 at 05:00 PM.

Trade Wise Apprenticeship Vacancies

The apprenticeship slots are available in various designated trades including Fitter, Welder, Turner, Machinist, Electrician, Carpenter, Painter, Mechanic Diesel, Wireman, Refrigeration & AC Mechanic, Plumber, Black Smith, Driller, Bridge Erector, Sheet Metal Worker, Draftsman (Civil), Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, Laboratory Technician (Pathology), Secretarial Assistant (Stenography), Sarang, Grinder, Mason and Draftsman (Mechanic).

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) under the 10+2 examination system with minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board.

Candidates must also possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade, affiliated to NCVT/SCVT as applicable under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Important Qualification Conditions

  • Candidates whose SSC/10th or ITI results were awaited on 21 August 2026 are not eligible.
  • Candidates who have failed in ITI are not eligible.
  • Engineering graduates and Diploma holders are not eligible under this notification.
  • For Laboratory Technician (Pathology), candidates must have passed 12th under the 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and minimum 50% marks in both 10th and 12th.
  • For Secretarial Assistant/Stenography, National Trade Certificate (NTC) approved by NCVT/SCVT is required.
  • For Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, the prescribed IT/CoE basic training and NTC requirement mentioned in the notification must be fulfilled.

Age Limit

The candidate’s age should be 15 to 24 years as on 15 September 2026.

  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation
  • OBC: 3 years relaxation
  • PwBD: 10 years relaxation
  • Ex-Servicemen: Additional relaxation as per the conditions mentioned in the notification

Application Fee

The application fee is ₹100/-.

  • SC/ST candidates: No fee
  • PwBD candidates: No fee
  • Women candidates: No fee
  • Other eligible candidates: ₹100/-

The fee is non-refundable and is to be paid online through the integrated payment gateway during the application process.

Selection Process

The selection of candidates will be based on a merit list. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of the percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation/10th, subject to the minimum 50% aggregate requirement.

  • All subjects in the Matriculation mark sheet will be considered.
  • The selection will not be based on the best-of-five marks.
  • There will be no written examination and no viva.
  • In case of equal marks, preference will be given to the older candidate.
  • Document Verification and Medical Fitness Certificate are required for final selection.

Training Period and Stipend

Selected candidates will undergo apprenticeship training as per the applicable rules. Apprentices will receive a monthly stipend at the prescribed rate during the training period as per the prevailing rules and Railway Board directives.

The notification does not specify a fixed stipend amount; therefore, candidates should not consider any unofficial stipend figure as confirmed.

Photograph and Signature Specifications

The recent colour photograph should be a clear front-view photograph without cap or sunglasses. The photograph should be in JPG/JPEG format, 3.5 cm × 3.5 cm, 100 DPI and file size between 20 KB and 70 KB.

The scanned signature should be 3.5 cm × 3.5 cm, JPG/JPEG format, 100 DPI and file size between 20 KB and 30 KB.

  2. Open the link for Act Apprentice 2026-27 online application.
  3. Complete the registration process using your personal details.
  4. Login and carefully fill in the application form.
  5. Select the applicable Division/Workshop and Trade carefully.
  6. Enter your Aadhaar number and educational/ITI details correctly.
  7. Upload the required photograph, signature and certificates.
  8. Pay the applicable application fee online.
  9. Submit the application form and download/print the final application for future reference.

Important Instructions for Candidates

  • Only one application is permitted as per the conditions of the notification. Multiple applications may lead to rejection.
  • Name, father’s name and date of birth should exactly match the Matriculation certificate.
  • Candidates must preserve their Registration Number.
  • Registered mobile number and email ID should remain active throughout the engagement process.
  • Candidates must choose the Division/Workshop carefully because the choice is final and binding.
  • Original documents must be produced during Document Verification.
  • No hard copy of the application or certificates is required to be sent by post.
  • No hostel accommodation will be provided during apprenticeship training.
  • Completion of apprenticeship does not guarantee employment in Railways.
