Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, through Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE), Avadi, Chennai, has invited eligible candidates for ITI Apprentice Trainees under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
The recruitment will be conducted through a Walk-in Interview. A total of 93 ITI Apprentice vacancies are available in 18 different trades. The Walk-in Interview will be held from 08 September 2026 to 09 September 2026.

Age Limit
Age will be calculated as on 01 September 2026.
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age for UR: 27 Years
- Maximum Age for OBC: 30 Years
- Maximum Age for SC/ST: 32 Years
- Maximum Age for PWD: 37 Years
Educational Qualification
Candidates should have passed out from an ITI duly recognized by NCVT/SCVT as per the Gazette Notification of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
The ITI trade should generally be of a minimum two-year duration, except for Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA), Painter, Plumber, Welder and Food Production.
Eligibility Conditions
- Registration of ITI candidates on the NCVT/SCVT MIS Portal is mandatory.
- The NCVT/SCVT MIS registration number is required while filling the application and will be verified during the Walk-in Interview/Document Verification.
- Only candidates who passed the qualifying examination in 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 are eligible.
- Candidates who passed before 2023 are not eligible.
- Candidates must possess an ITI certificate from an NCVT/SCVT Board.
- Expired OBC certificates will not be accepted.
- Candidates whose qualifying examination results had not been declared by 30 August 2026 will not be considered for training.
- Only candidates who completed the qualifying examination as regular candidates are eligible.
Selection Process
Selection will be carried out by shortlisting on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying ITI examination followed by a Walk-in Interview.
Selected candidates will be awarded the joining letter on the spot at CVRDE, Avadi, Chennai – 600054.

Candidates are required to report at the prescribed venue along with all required documents for verification.
Documents Required
Applicants must bring the following documents along with the application:
- 10th or 12th Mark Sheet and Certificate
- ITI Mark Sheets
- NCVT/SCVT Certificate
- Caste Certificate, if applicable
- Aadhaar Card
Finally selected candidates will have to produce a valid Police Verification Certificate at the time of joining from their place of last residence/permanent address.
Training Duration
The duration of apprenticeship training will be strictly in accordance with the Apprentices Act, 1961, Apprenticeship Rules and amendments made from time to time.
Important Note
Selection and training will be conducted strictly in accordance with the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961. Completion of apprenticeship training does not guarantee employment.
If at any stage it is found that a candidate does not fulfil the eligibility conditions or the documents/information submitted are false or forged, the candidature/appointment will be withdrawn immediately.
