Western Railway Sports Quota Recruitment 2026-27: Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Western Railway has released Employment Notice No. RRC/WR/01/2026 (Sports Quota) dated 27 August 2026 for recruitment against Open Advertisement Sports Quota for the year 2026-27.
Western Railway has invited online applications from eligible Indian sportspersons for a total of 64 vacancies. These include 21 posts under Group C and 43 posts of erstwhile Group D. Western Railway Sports Quota Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit: Candidates must be minimum 18 years and maximum 25 years of age as on 01 January 2027. Candidates born between 01 January 2002 and 01 January 2009, both days inclusive, are eligible to apply.
Educational Qualification:
- Level 5/4: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University.
- Level 3/2: 12th (+2 stage) or equivalent from a recognized Board OR Matriculation plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship OR Matriculation plus ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT.
- Level 1: 10th Pass from a recognized Board OR ITI OR equivalent OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.
Candidates awaiting the result of the final examination of the prescribed educational qualification are not eligible.
Sports Achievement Eligibility
Only active sportspersons who have acquired the prescribed sports achievement eligibility norms in championships/events held from 01 April 2024 to the date of notification are eligible, subject to the discipline-specific conditions given in the notification.
Level 5/4: The candidate should have represented the country in Senior Category Olympic Games OR secured at least 3rd position in specified international competitions such as World Cup, World Championships, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympics, Champions Trophy (Hockey) or Thomas/Uber Cup (Badminton), as applicable.
Level 3/2: The prescribed sports norms include participation/achievement in specified international competitions, Commonwealth/Asian Championships, South Asian Federation Games, USIC World Railways Championship, World University Games, National Championships, National Games, All India Inter University Championship or 1st position in Federation Cup Championships, as applicable.
Level 1: The prescribed norms include representation/achievement in specified Commonwealth/Asian Championships, South Asian Federation Games, USIC World Railways Championship, World University Games, Federation Cup Championships or specified State/Senior National Championship achievements.
Important: Sports achievements must satisfy the discipline-specific rules mentioned in the official notification. Additional acceptable norms are also prescribed separately for Athletics, Ball Badminton, Body Building, Boxing, Cricket, Handball, Hockey, Volleyball, Powerlifting, Weightlifting and Wrestling.

Fee payment is to be made online through the payment gateway integrated with the application. Candidates should carefully verify their application before payment because no edit/change option is available thereafter.
Selection Process
The selection process is based on Sports Achievement, Sports Trial and Educational Qualification.

Only candidates securing 25 or more out of 40 marks in Game Skill, Physical Fitness and Coach’s Observation during the Trial will be considered for the next stage.
Minimum qualifying marks:
- Level 5/4 – 70 marks
- Level 3/2 – 65 marks
- Level 1 – 60 marks
Appointment will be offered purely on the basis of merit. If two or more sportspersons obtain the same marks, preference will be given to the younger candidate.

- Recognized Sports Achievement Certificate for the prescribed period.
- Date of Birth proof such as SSC certificate/equivalent mark sheet.
- Caste Certificate, wherever applicable.
- OBC Declaration, wherever applicable.
- Minority Community Declaration, wherever applicable.
- EBC Income Certificate, wherever applicable.
Photograph and Signature Specifications
- Colour photograph: 3.5 cm × 3.5 cm, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, file size 20 KB–70 KB.
- Photograph should not be older than three months from the date of application and should show a clear front view without cap and sunglasses.
- Signature: 3.5 cm × 2.5 cm, JPG/JPEG, 100 DPI, file size 20 KB–30 KB.
- Signature should not be in block/capital or disjoined letters.
Important Instructions
- Candidates must possess Aadhaar Card or, where applicable, the prescribed Aadhaar Enrolment ID.
- Name, father’s name and date of birth should exactly match the educational and sports certificates.
- Applicants applying for more than one discipline or more than one pay level must submit separate applications with separate fees.
- No application printout or certificates need to be sent to RRC-WR by post.
- Candidates should take a printout of the submitted application and produce it at the Selection Trial.
- Original Date of Birth, Educational Qualification and Sports Achievement documents must be produced on the day of Trial.
- No TA/DA or accommodation will be provided for attending the Selection Trials.
- Candidates may have to stay for 2–3 days during the Selection Trials at their own arrangement.
- Selected candidates can be posted anywhere on Western Railway.
- Selected candidates will have to undergo prescribed training wherever applicable.
- Selected candidates will be subject to the prescribed Railway Medical Examination.
- Selected candidates have to submit a Service Bond of 5 years at the time of appointment.
